INTRODUCTION

Fall is here! This is my favorite time of year. At least until after Halloween. Then the stress that comes with the rest of the holidays hits. With the whirlwind of family obligations and activities, I have to make a conscious effort to do things that I enjoy and find relaxing.

Here are 10 fall self-care activities for a feel-good fall. These activities can be done solo and some can be done with kids or the whole family.

Self-Care Activities

Take a Warm Bath

Have you seen the TikTok videos of people creating these elaborate bubble baths? If that is what you are into, then take some time and soak in a warm bath. Create a relaxing atmosphere with some candles, bubbles and whatever else you need.

Light a Fall Scented Candle

If you are a sensory person who relaxes with certain smells then find a candle you like and light it.

Go For a Nature Walk

This is one of my favorite things to do. I love hiking in the woods, especially when the leaves are changing for the season. Whether it is for 15 minutes or for over 1 hour, being out in nature can be extremely therapeutic.

Make a Warm Cup of Tea

My favorite drink in the fall is a warm cup of apple cider. Do you have a favorite? If so, make it. Then sit down and SLOWLY drink it. Take your time to enjoy that drink.

Bake Something

Want something to go with that warm drink? Bake a treat. There are tons of “dessert in a mug” recipes all over the internet. Pick one, or several, and try your hand at making it.

Visit a pumpkin patch

I love going to a pumpkin patch. This year I got to take my daughter for her first visit and she thoroughly enjoyed herself.

Stretch

We tend to hold stress in our bodies without even realizing. Take 10 minutes and stretch out. You can use an app to guide you through a stretch exercise if needed.

Watch a fall themed movie

I am sure Hallmark or one of the dozens of streaming services has many movies centered around the Fall season.

Make a comforting soup

The start of Fall means the start of “slow cooker soup season” in my house. Between my full-time job, my toddler and this blog, I do not have a lot of time to make big meals. Enter my Instant-Pot. Plus, I enjoy coming home to a delicious smelling house. This recipe by Danae is one of my favorite Fall squash soups!

Wear a comfy sweater

For me, there is something so comforting about wearing a nice, warm and cozy sweater. It makes me feel warm and safe. Blankets have the same effect so if you don’t like sweaters, grab a blanket to cozy up with.

Self-Care for Kids

Wondering how to make these self-care ideas kid-friendly? All of the self-care ideas can be done with kids.

What to Do

Let your kid pick what bubbles they want for a bath or what soup they want to try.

Have them look for different colored leaves on a nature walk.

After picking out pumpkins with them, carve them. Or, if they are too young to carve, paint the pumpkin.

Stretching is a great activity you can do together. Plus, it would motivate each of you!

Disney+ has scores of kid-friendly movies for the season. Let your kid(s) pick a movie and get comfortable watching it together.

CONCLUSION

Whether it is pumpkin-picking or baking a delicious treat, there is something for everyone to do this Fall season.
